Wheaton Recreation Center Driving Instructions
The car seat appointment will be located at Wheaton Recreation Center at 11701 Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring, MD 20902.The Recreation Center is collocated with the Wheaton Library at the corner of Arcola and Georgia Avenues. Appointments are held in the underground parking garage. Follow the signs to the underground parking garage which is located off Hermitage Avenue (at the roundabout). Once you get to the parking garage, follow the car seat signs to the appointment parking spaces. See map below.
Important Reminders:
- Please read your car seat owner’s manual and, if possible, install the car seat as best you can prior to your appointment.
- Please bring your vehicle owner’s manual if you can.
- All new seats should be out of the box before your appointment time.
- We encourage you to bring your child with you so that we can assure proper fit of the harness straps. If your child will not be present, please sit them in the car seat and mark with a piece of tape where the top of their shoulder is on the car seat.
- If you have an unborn child, we will use dolls to demonstrate the proper use of the harness straps at your appointment.
- We want to make sure that you have the best educational experience possible at your appointment. It is important that you arrive on time to your appointment. If you are more than 10 minutes late, we might have to reschedule your appointment in order to meet the needs of others.
The Car Seat Program reserves the right to cancel appointments if necessary (i.e., due to inclement weather). If your appointment if canceled, you will be notified by email and/or phone.
If you have any question as to whether a seat check is cancelled, please call 240-777-2223 after 6 AM for morning appointments, after 10AM for afternoon appointments or after 4 PM for evening appointments, and there will be a recorded message if the seat check is cancelled. It is very rare that we cancel seat checks.
