Senior Nutrition
Montgomery County offers a hot meal at lunchtime at 10 senior program locations around the County. This program is offered in partnership with the Department of Health & Human Services, Aging and Disability Services. Please check with the center nearest you for more information.
For seniors age 60 and over, a donation is requested. For those under 60, the full price of the meal is required. The locations listed below currently offer this program. Advanced registration is required so we know how many meals to order, and varies by location, so please call the center at which you would like to reserve a meal a minimum of one week in advance for additional details and reservation procedures. Some centers also offer a "stand-by" or "waiting list" for individuals wishing to have a meal at the last minute if there are any extra meals available.

The Senior Programs Team offers a variety of program and services at its Senior Centers and Active Adult Program locations. Proper nutrition is such an important basic need to the overall health and wellness of an individual that it is a priority programming component of all of our programs. Below is a list of some of the basic programs and services we offer on a regular basis.
Nutrition Programs and Lectures
Along with the nutrition program mentioned above, all of our program locations provide lectures, food demonstrations, and/or specific nutrition related programs on a regular basis. Sample programs include: Cooking for One, Microwave Meals, Planning a Balanced Diet, Easy Recipes for One or Two, and a host of other topics. Call the center nearest you for additional information or a listing of upcoming programs.
Addressing Food Insecurity
We know that many individuals are in need of additional assistance from time to time, so a number of our Senior Centers and Active Adult Programs have teamed with local churches, food service providers, and other organizaitons that provide food staples to those in need. We are often the pick-up location for these donations, but if we aren't, we can provide you with information on the nearest locations in your community that you can go to. Please call the center nearest you, or call us at 240-777-4925 for additional information.
