Objectives

  • To build an ecosystem of open governments and open government practices that all government agencies and municipalities in Montgomery County can share, exchange, and advance resulting in improved government services, quality of life, community resilience, economic vibrancy, and innovation.
  • To provide a forum in Montgomery County for the identification and sharing of practices and experiences for improving government transparency, community engagement and collaboration, public-private-non-profit service sector coordination, and economic development.

Targeted Outcomes

An Open Montgomery Partnership will seek to:

  • Showcase the leadership of agencies and municipalities in Montgomery County by highlighting innovation and creative best practices and providing a forum in which our agencies and municipalities can share promising practices and learn from one another;
  • Energize civic engagement, leverage new technologies, and improve government accountability through collaboration on open data and data analysis projects;
  • Empower private and non-profit sector organizations to partner with agencies and municipalities to make services more efficient, effective, and responsive to residents and
  • businesses;
  • Form an advocacy group for Montgomery County in working with the State and Federal governments to expand funding to initiatives that harness the capabilities of our agencies and municipalities in developing the local economy; and
  • Form partnerships with other Open Government Partnerships, including the Mayor’s Open Government Innovation Partnership, to share best practices, promote open government standards, share platforms, and leverage resources.
