Blasting Permits Application Process
All blasting work or processes with explosives, including storage, require a Blasting Permit from DPS to ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards and to ensure public safety.
Please note that fireworks are addressed in a separate permitting and inspection process on our Fireworks Permit and Inspection process page.
At this time, we are requesting that all permit applications and payments, including supporting documentation for review, be submitted electronically. In lieu of paper documents, please email DPS.eServicesFPCC@montgomerycountymd.gov to provide the required information for review.

Typically, blasting sites are not inspected but, we have the right to inspect the site at any time depending on the location, nature of the work and/or as a result of a complaint.
Yes. The exact equipment required is usually determined at the meeting or as directed by our review team.
