Sediment Control Permit Transfer Approval Process
Under certain conditions Engineered Sediment Control Permits may be transferred. Generally, a request for a permit transfer is due to a change in property ownership after the original permit has been issued. Only engineered permits may be transferred, other types of sediment control permits are not eligible.
When is the permit eligible for a transfer?
- Only engineered plans are eligible for transfer
- The existing permit must be in good standing prior to transfer
- Expired permits do not qualify
- The disturbed area approved for the original permit may not change
How do I apply for a permit transfer?
You may apply by submitting electronically or via a paper application. A fee must accompany your request. You must provide the original permit number on the application.
What submittals are required?
- Written correspondence from the original permit holder requesting transfer of the permit and return of the original bond to the original permit holder
- Revised plan set that reflects the new ownership
- New permit holder must sign the owner/developer certification on the plans
- No other changes may be made to the plans
- A non-refundable filing fee
- A replacement bond provided by the new permit holder
How long will it take to get my approval?
Typically permit transfers are processed within 1 to 2 weeks from the time of submission. Completeness and quality of the submission and staff workload may impact approval time.
