The project provides a shared use path over approximately 1.7 miles of distance in two phases. The Phase I provides an eight feet wide shared use path along the south side of Needwood Road over approximately 2,400 feet of length from the beginning of Nature Trail, west of Lake Needwood to the ICC Trail terminus. The Phase II provides an eight feet wide shared use path along the south side of Needwood Road from Deer Lake Road to the beginning of Nature Trail and continues from the east terminus of ICC Trail to Muncaster Mill Road (MD 115). A new six feet wide concrete sidewalk will be constructed over a distance 800 feet of length along the east side of Muncaster Mill Road from Needwood Road to the northern entrance of Colonel Zadok Magruder High School. This project is approved for $860,000 from Maryland Department of Transportation for design and construction for Phase I of the project.
The construction for Phase I is scheduled to start in May 2016 with ten months of duration. The construction for Phase II is scheduled to start in Fall 2017 with nine months of duration.
