MCER NO. 3-10:  PROPOSED OFFICE OF HUMAN RESOURCES REGULATION

Hiring Preference for Persons with Disabilities

 

SUMMARY:  The proposed regulation implements Bill No. 46-09 enacted by the Council on February 2, 2010.  The regulation amends Section 7 of the 2001 Montgomery County Personnel Regulations to establish and maintain a hiring preference for disabled veterans and persons with disabilities who apply for initial appointment to County merit positions in a normal competitive process and are among the highest rating category.  The proposed regulation would supersede Executive Regulation 12-00AMII, in part.

MCER NO. 7-10:  PROPOSED DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES REGULATION

Eating and Drinking Establishments Nutrition Labeling

 

SUMMARY:  The proposed regulation provides guidance for compliance with and enforcement of Council Bill 19-07 and Board of Health Regulation 16-1194, Board of Health Regulation requiring certain eating and drinking establishments to post certain nutrition information on menu boards and menus.  Certain eating and drinking establishments must post the calories of each standardized menu item on the menu or menu board and provide written nutrition information to a consumer upon request.  The nutrition information must be posted clearly and conspicuously such that an average consumer may read the information at the ordering counter or from a menu or food tag.  This regulation applies only to chain eating and drinking establishments with 20 or more locations in the United States and does not apply to grocery stores, convenience stores or movie theatres.
