Low Income Housing
Housing Opportunities Commission
- Housing Choice Voucher Program (HCV): Rental assistance for very low and extremely low-income households, the elderly, and the disabled. Provides a rent subsidy to customers so that they pay no more than 40% of total household income on housing. More details on the process for an HCV can be found here.
- Project-Based Voucher Program: Vouchers are assigned to a specific building, and customers must reside in the building to receive assistance.
- Tenant-Based Voucher Program: Vouchers can be used at any home, apartment or other private market residence that meets household requirements, safety standards and rent reasonableness.
- Rent Supplement Program: Provides rental assistance to low-income Montgomery County residents. Preference is given to households who have one or more of the following: over age 62, have a documented disability, fleeing domestic violence/domestic violence survivor, homeless or in danger of becoming homeless.
Housing Initiative Partnership
- Community Schools Rental Assistance Program: Emergency financial assistance for families with students enrolled in designated Community Schools who are struggling to pay rent, facing eviction, or experiencing homelessness.
- Public housing authority for the City of Rockville.
- Housing Choice Voucher Program: Rental assistance program that helps low-income families, the elderly, and persons with disabilities afford decent and safe housing. Vouchers can be used at any residence.
- Project Based Voucher Assistance: Vouchers are tied to units in specific developments.
Moderately/Affordably Priced Housing
Montgomery County Moderately Priced Dwelling Unit (MPDU) Program
- Offers affordable rental units in apartment communities located throughout the County. Individuals interested in the MPDU rental program must apply directly to the MPDU complex of their choice
- Apartment complexes with MPDUs
- Income-restricted rental properties located within the City of Rockville. Interested Inidividuals must contact properties directly. To see list of properties, go to City of Rockville website and click on "List of Affordable Housing Properties."
- Moderately Priced Dwelling Unit (MPDU) Program: Provides affordable rental housing and for-sale housing through its Moderately Priced Dwelling Unit (MPDU) Program.
Montgomery County Workforce Housing Program
- Intended to be affordable to households with incomes that are too high to be eligible to participate in the Moderately Priced Dwelling Unit (MPDU) Program.
Housing Initiative Partnership
- Housing counseling agency and nonprofit housing developer. Provides eviction and foreclosure prevention services. Click on "Rental Opportunities" on website for affordable housing opportunities for low-income renters.
- Home Sharing Program
- Matches renters who are seeking affordable housing options with homeowners who have spare rooms in their homes to rent long-term.

- Mainstream Vouchers: Vouchers for households with at least one disabled family member between the ages of 18 and 61.
- Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing Program: Provides a Housing Choice Voucher, combined with case management and clinical services, tailored to help homeless veterans with severe psychiatric or substance abuse disorders
- Mainstream Vouchers: Vouchers for nonelderly persons with disabilities.
