Regional Service Centers
Mission Statement
The mission of the Regional Services Centers is to represent the County in their respective regions by providing effective, timely liaison between Montgomery County and its residents and businesses and by working with individuals, community groups, regional Citizens' Advisory Boards, and other public agencies to provide information, identify and assess regional problems and issues, and recommend and/or implement solutions.
Additional Functions
The Regional Director also assesses regional problems/issues and works to determine solutions emphasizing collaborative efforts, including public-private partnerships. The office provides technical assistance and mediation services to local organizations and individuals to address identified problems, and promotes community empowerment through participatory processes and neutral forums for discussion. In addition, the Regional Director helps to promote a sense of community through their sponsorship of, or participation in, special events such as Independence Day celebrations and local community festivals.
Three of the Regional Services Centers have Urban Districts: Bethesda-Chevy Chase, Friendship Heights, Silver Spring, and Wheaton. Urban Districts support and enhance the County's unincorporated downtowns as prosperous, livable urban centers by maintaining streetscape and its investments. They provide additional public amenities such as plantings, seating, shelters, and works of art and promote the commercial and residential interests of these areas with programming cultural and community activities.
