Eat Well Be Active
The Eat Well Be Active Partnership (EWBA) is a county‐wide collaborative launched in May 2014 following the release of the Healthy Montgomery Obesity Action Plan. The group was originally formed in 2011 as the Obesity Workgroup for the Healthy Montgomery community health improvement process. EWBA implements the chronic disease components of the Healthy Montgomery Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP).
EWBA is the collaborative providing structure to the Healthy Montgomery Transforming Communities Initiative (TCI). TCI is a multi-year effort in Montgomery County to implement a range of public health strategies to reduce obesity, promote tobacco-free living, and address social factors that impact community health. TCI provides funding to implement and support the CHIP goals and objectives.
The TCI strategies focus on policy, systems and environmental changes that offer long-term benefits for community health improvement and preventing chronic disease, with a specific focus on the communities of Gaithersburg, Germantown, Long Branch and Takoma Park.
