Girls Wired for Fire Week

Do you want the experience of a life time?

Learn that you have what it takes to be a firefighter/EMT.

July 28 - August 1, 2025

When?

The inaugural event will be held July 28 - August 1 8AM to 5PM (with two days ending later). Graduation to be held on August 1st - open to parents.

Applications close on May 23 and successful applicants will be notified no later than June 6.

During Girls Wired for Fire Week, young ladies will experience:

  • Fire scenarios
  • EMS scenarios
  • Rescue scenarios
  • Physical training
  • Nutrition
  • Hard work and empowerment
  • Working at a fire station to see the ins/outs of what it takes
  • Building relationships and lifelong friendships

The program is FREE of charge. Uniforms and gear will be provided. The experience is limited to a certain amount of applicants, so apply early!

    10:15 - 11:30 PPE Class/SCBA – face piece fitting
    11:30 - 12:15 Lunch at Academy
    12:30 - 16:30 Breakout sessions: PPE practice (donning/doffing gear); SCBA introduction/practice; Nozzles/Fittings/Hydrants; Maze
    16:30 - 17:00 Clean Up
  2. Day 2

    09:15 - 11:15 Breakout Sessions: Dry hose advancement; Wet hose advancement; Ground ladders; Patient assessment/movement
    11:30 - 12:15 Lunch at Academy
    12:15 - 14:15 Breakout Sessions: Dry hose advancement; Wet hose advancement; Ground ladders; Patient assessment/movement
    14:15 - 16:30 Ladder truck familiarization; Miniature Ant Farm
    16:30 - 17:00 Clean Up
    17:00 - 17:45 Dinner at the Academy
    18:00 - 20:00 CPR Class (AHA Heartsaver CPR/AED approx. 2hrs), first aid – bandaging wounds/splinting; patient assessment

    13:00 - 13:45 Lunch at Academy
    13:45 - 14:30 FEI, Bomb dog

    12:00 - 13:00 PSCC tour

    15:00 - 20:00 Begin making dinner/dessert; clean fire house; fire fighter time; possible ride along
  5. Day 5
