Montgomery County Earns First Place in 2019 Top Digital County
The 2019 Digital Counties Survey conducted by the Center for Digital Government and the National Association of Counties declared Montgomery County as the first-place winner in the “One Million or More Population” category. The County is the first, and only, five-time winner as well as back-to-back winner (2018 and 2019) of this annual competition, and is the only County to be ranked in the top 10 each year since the survey’s inception in 2003. Top-10 Digital County Governments Winner! Montgomery County Government was named by the Center for Digital Government and National Association of Counties (NACo) as a winner of their 2004 Digital Counties Survey, a national survey sponsored by SAP, a proud supporter of all local governments in the United States.

In April, all counties in the United States were invited to participate in the survey, which consisted of 17 questions that focused on how county governments are applying information technology to effectively deliver services to their citizens. The survey grouped counties into four population categories: 500,000 or more; 250,000-499,999; 150,000-249,999; and less than 150,000.

2003 Top Pick! For the second year in a row, MuniNetGuide.com designated the Montgomery County Government Web site as a “Top Pick” of 2003. MuniNetGuide.com is a leading national web site covering municipal-related content on the Internet.

MuniNet selected 14 websites based on their comprehensiveness, the opportunities for interaction between residents and government, and the quality of the information provided. MuniNet described Montgomery County’s site as having “a comprehensive web portal that provides one-stop shopping for news, information and County services.” 

2003 Best of the Web! Montgomery County’s Web site captured first place nationwide for a county government portal page in the Center for Digital Government’s 2003 Best of the Web Awards. The Center for Digital Government is an international research and advisory institute on information technology in government and education.

2003 NATOA Government Programming Award Winner! The National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors (NATOA) awards Montgomery County top honors for excellence in broadcast, cable, and electronic programming developed by a municipal agency.

These awards, with winners chosen from 125 finalists, provide a picture of some of the e-government best practices developed and implemented in the past year.
