Luisa Cardona - Director

Luisa Fernanda Cardona the Director of the MidCounty Regional Office for Montgomery County, oversees a diverse region of over 770,000 constituents. In this role, she advises the County Executive and Council on community-centered policies and manages the Wheaton Urban District team. Luisa's goal is to bring equity-centered programming and resources to the MidCounty region by elevating community voices and fostering a sense of ownership in local initiatives.

Prior to this, Luisa was the Deputy Director of Atlanta’s Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs, where she advised on immigration policy, launched the city’s first citizenship program, and implemented a language access policy. She also served as the lead Spanish media spokesperson for the Mayor.

Before entering public service, Luisa practiced law advocating for immigrant workers and DREAMers in Atlanta and Washington, D.C. She also worked as the Latino Vote Coordinator for the Obama-Biden 2008 campaign and as Field Coordinator for SPARK Reproductive Justice in 2014.

A naturalized U.S. citizen and Colombian-American, Luisa holds a law degree from American University and a bachelor’s degree from Georgia State University.
