Montgomery County Recreation provides many opportunities for individuals 55+ to participate in individual and team sports, and a variety of fitness programs. Sports programs currently include: billiards, badminton, basketball, pickleball, softball, table tennis and volleyball. Many of these are open gym drop-in programs and all skill levels are welcome. Many of the more formal leagues are co-sponsored with the Montgomery County Senior Sports Association (MCSSA).

The 55+ Programs Team offers a plethora of fitness and exercise programs at all of our program locations. To get an idea of the types of programs/classes offered, check out our monthly newsletters or call 240-777-4925. If you can’t find anything there, don’t give up! You can explore our exercise and fitness related classes. We’re sure you’ll be able to find something that strikes your fancy!


- Bone Builders Offered in partnership with Health and Human Services, Aging and Disability Services this is a free, volunteer-led, exercise program.
- Indoor Walking Walking just 30 minutes a day is recommended for everyone. A brisk walk can help you lead a happier, healthy life.
- Senior Olympics Montgomery County Recreation is the host agency for the Maryland Senior Olympics, with many of the events happening right here in Montgomery County!
- Open Gym Join us for volleyball, basketball, badminton, table tennis, billiards, pickleball and other individual and team sports. Drop-In Gym programs require a membership.
- Senior Fit Montgomery County Recreation partners with Holy Cross Health to offer Senior Fit, free, certified instructor-led programs.
- Senior Neighborhood Programs An opportunity for individuals to gather for educational, social, sports and entertainment programs.
