Silver Spring Citizens Advisory Board

The Silver Spring Citizens Advisory Board is tasked with providing advice to the County Executive and County Council on issues affecting Silver Spring and Takoma Park. These issues include transportation, economic development, housing, youth activities and the environment. All meetings are open to the public and we encourage community participation.

The Board represents residents who live in the Silver Spring Region, which includes the area between Rock Creek Park & the Prince Georges County line, the area south of I-495 to the District of Columbia, including all of the City of Takoma Park, & all of Four Corners, including the Four Corners neighborhoods north of I-495.

Committees to the Silver Spring Citizens Advisory Board

Neighborhoods Committee (Joint w/ CED)

Chair:  

  • The Neighborhoods Committee handles matters pertaining to the quality of life in neighborhoods, including, but not limited to public health planning, community redevelopment, school-community relations, housing, education, the Arts, and the natural environment in the region.

Commercial Economic Development Committee (Joint w/ Neighborhoods)

Chair: 

  • The  Commercial Economic  Development Committee works on issues affecting Silver Spring's Commercial Economic Development sector, including issues pertaining to Redevelopment.

Transportation, Energy and Environment Committee

Chair:  Michelle Foster and Don Slater

  • The committee shall facilitate a community wide discussion on transportation, energy and environmental policies in order to promote sustainable living and improved quality of life for the greater Silver Spring region.

The full Board meets the second Monday of each month , 7:00 pm. All Committees meet on the fourth Monday of the month, 7:00 pm.

Meetings are held in the Silver Spring Civic Building, One Veterans Place. Parking is available at the Town Square Garage.
