Storm Operations Response Overview

MCDOT is responsible for treating and plowing over 5,000 total lane miles in Montgomery County. When it snows, 200 employees with 175 pieces of equipment spring into action.  In addition, up to 180 contract personnel and over 200 pieces of contractor equipment can be mobilized as necessary. Winter storm operations plan stages are described below:

Stage Response
Stage I MCDOT is monitoring and pre-treating Emergency and Primary routes in your Service Area.
Stage II MCDOT is salting Emergency and Primary routes in your Service Area.
Stage III MCDOT is plowing and salting Emergency routes in your Service Area.
Stage IV MCDOT is plowing Primary routes and Neighborhood streets in your Service Area.
Stage V MCDOT has finished treating streets in your Service Area.
