Leisure World Stormwater Pond Retrofit Project
The Leisure World Stormwater Pond, originally constructed in 1982, was selected for upgrades and improvements after a 2020 inspection of the pond conducted by DEP revealed several structural issues with the dam embankment. Temporary repairs were completed later in 2020. Permenant repairs and improvements will bring the pond into compliance with current safety and performance standards reducing the impacts of stormwater runoff on our local streams and the Chesapeake Bay.
Upgrades and improvements to the stormwater management pond include: removal of accumulated sediment to reestablish the original pond bottom elevation, replace the existing riser with a new concrete riser structure, replace the corrugated metal spillway pipe with a new 48" concrete pipe, aquatic plants, trees and shrubs will be planted around the perimeter of the pond.
