Grand Reopening was held on Saturday, December 16th, 2017 New furniture for the library has been delivered and installed. Staff returned to Quince Orchard from the branches to which they have temporarily been relocated during the refresh process. The staff workspace has been completely redesigned. Quince Orchard library staff have stocked the shelves and set up the service desks for the reopening of the branch.

The Quince Orchard Library Refresh project has been performed over a six-month period with completion in late November 2017 and Re-opening on December 16, 2017.

The work involved with the Refresh/Refurbishment has included improvement to the exterior and the interior of the building.

Exterior improvements have been done to refurbish sections of concrete pavement at the front entrance to the library to bring the slopes into conformance with current ADA regulations and to enhance the appearance of the library. Painting and cleaning of existing front surfaces has also been done to present a refreshed look to the library. Other ADA improvements to the exterior of the library included improvements to the asphalt driveway and parking lot areas, improvements to the concrete sidewalks and installation of an ADA accessible book-drop.

Interior improvements have been done to improve both the functions within the library and to enhance the appearance within the library. Those interior improvements include, among other items : replacement of all the flooring surfaces within the main library areas and the workroom and offices, total renovation of all public restroom to make them ADA compliant and to upgrade the fixtures, painting of all the walls of the main library and workroom, rearrangement of shelving and seating within the library, addition of new furniture within the library inclusive of the quiet room and the workroom areas, addition of new workstations in the workroom, installation of a new motorized partition in the main meeting room, total upgrade of all the lighting to introduce more efficient and brighter LED lamps, additional of new motorized shades to the windows in the meeting room and entrance lounge, replacement and addition of new service desks and self-checkout desks at the entrance to the main library.

The improvement that result from the refresh at Quince Orchard Library are in conformance with MCPL plans of a 7-year library refresh cycle to all libraries within the MCPL network of libraries in Montgomery County.
