Maryland's Public Information Act (MPIA) grants the people of this state a broad right of access to public records while protecting legitimate governmental interests and the privacy rights of individual citizens. When requesting public records maintained by Montgomery County Government, please reference the contact list and forward your inquiry to the appropriate departmental representative(s).

Requests

Montgomery County Executive Regulation #27-01AM, under the Maryland Public Information Act (MPIA), allows examination of permitting records. You may request copies of or review available permit related documents. Please not that customized records will be not generated to fulfill a public information request as outlined in the MPIA. DPS tracks all record requests from receipt of requested to response.

DPS fees for processing record request are governed under Montgomery County Executive Regulation #27-01AM under the Maryland Public Information Act. There is an additional fee of $48/hr for research, retrieval and reproduction of requested material after the first 2 hours.

  • If Request is not picked up or reviewed within 2 weeks of notification, Request will be cancelled without refund.
  • DPS does not have jurisdictions for properties located within City of Rockville (240-314-5000) and City of Gaithersburg (301-258-6330), please contact them directly.
