Tracking and Monitoring of Master Plans, Zoning and Development Activities
Master Plans,
Sector Plans, and
Functional Master Plans provide guidelines and recommendations for land use, zoning and development for specific geographic areas. For Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties, these plans are initiated through the
Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC). These planning efforts are initiated through respective planning departments and planning boards for each County. Close coordination between the County and the Planning Board is essential to ensure that current and future County government needs are addressed. The Office of Planning and Development coordinates review and commentary on Master Plans on behalf of the Executive Branch and actively participates in the
County Council’s review of these plans.
In addition, OPD staff represent the Executive Branch on the Great Seneca Science Corridor Implementation Advisory Committee, Montgomery County Bicycle Master Plan Implementation Task Force, and Pedestrian Master Plan Interagency Working Group.
