Emergency Responder Radio Communication Enhancement Systems (ERRCES) Permit & Inspection Process
Emergency Responder Radio Communication Enhancement Systems (ERRCES), sometimes referred to as BDAs (Bi-Directional Amplification) require a Fire Alarm Permit as well as an Electrical Permit from DPS before installation work beginning on the system. One year after the final DPS approval of the system, a Fire Code Compliance Permit is automatically issued.
Your ERRCES may be submitted with your main building fire alarm permit or, you may permit it separately. Where it is permitted under a separate fire alarm permit, the main building fire alarm permit will not receive final DPS approval until the ERRCES and required test data have been reviewed, inspected, and approved.
You may request a free screening on during normal business hours, via email or phone. The screening assesses whether the submittal is complete and conforms to the fire codes (see screening limitations). ePlans may be submitted anytime using DPS's eServices .
Please refer to our fee schedule for information regarding fees associated with this process.
The fire alarm permit turnaround time varies with workload. Our goal is two weeks of processing time for permit applications.
