Montgomery County Continuum of Care (CoC) Response to COVID-19

Below you will find critical information around the response of the CoC towards the COVID-19 public health emergency.  This site will be updated as additional information is available:

I want to help with providing housing to households experiencing homelessness, how can I help?
We are currently looking to house at least 75 households before the end of May and are actively looking for units. 

If you have a vacant, or soon to be vacant unit for rent, please complete this short survey and someone from our housing location team will follow-up with you within 48 hours.  You can also help by just spreading the word.
I am a provider of services to the community, where can I get information on best practices and resources?
Services to End and Prevent Homelessness staff have compiled resources from across the nation. 
I have lost my housing and currently experiencing homelessness, where can I go for shelter?
  • If you have children under the age of 18, during normal business hours you can call or come into our office at 1301 Piccard Drive in Rockville for assessment or call 240-777-4550. 
  • After hours, you can connect with the Crisis Center at the same address or via phone at 240-777-4000. 
  • Adults should call the  Homeless Information Resource Line at 240-907-2688. 
  • Hypothermia shelters have remained open, and will continue to remain open through this public health emergency.
I haven't been able to pay my rent/mortgage because of income I have lost due to COVID-19, what can I do?
  • In addition to  year-round housing stabilization services,  the Montgomery County Council allocated additional funding.  The guidelines for how those funds will be allocated is available here.
  • Call 311 (240-777-0311) to connect with the Housing Stabilization Team.  311 will collect contact information so that we can assess your household for financial assistance.
  • If you are having issues with your landlord, you can also get connected to a specialist with Landlord and Tenant Affairs by calling 311.   Additional resources for renters are available here.
I am struggling to pay my utilities, is there any help you can offer?
  • You may be eligible for a credit to your utility bill.  Please see eligibility guidelines and how to apply here (English | Spanish).  
  • Please note, through June 1st, we encourage you to apply by calling the office at 240-777-4450.
What is the Continuum of Care (CoC) doing to promote health and safety during this time?
The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services, Services to Prevent and End Homelessness, as the CoC lead, has undertaken many initiatives to support residents during this time.  This includes:
  • extending the hypothermia shelter season through the duration of the emergency,
  • expanding the number of shelter sites to allow for social distancing,
  • establishing isolation spaces,
  • providing PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) to shelters,
  • outreach and permanent supportive housing providers, and more.
