Census 2020 in Montgomery County Partners

The Montgomery County 2020 Census, in partnership with the U.S. Census Bureau, will enter the Awareness/Education phase of our outreach campaign. The objective of this phase is to build immediate awareness, to provide educational information and will run through March 2020. We want to reach as many people as possible during this phase to ensure a fair, accurate and inclusive count of everyone in Montgomery County. Everyone should know about the upcoming 2020 Census and be prepared to respond on April 1, 2020 (Census Day).

What is a Census Partner?

A Census Partner is any organization that helps ensure their communities are accurately represented in the 2020 Census. Partners join a network of national, regional and local organizations that are all working together to encourage households to respond.

What do partners do?

Partnership is not a one-size-fits-all approach.  We’ll work with partners to select creative, impactful, and mutually beneficial ways of ensuring everyone in Montgomery County to be counted. There are many ways to make a difference as a 2020 Census Partner including:

  • Designate a Census Captain for your organization. Census Captains are representatives from your organization selected to attend a census training and serve as a trusted source of information within your organization regarding the 2020 Census, serves as a liaison between your organization/community and our office, and help manage any census related activity or materials for organization/community.
  • Providing information to your community, customers, members, or stakeholders about the importance and benefits of participating in the 2020 Census.
  • Using Montgomery County and Census Bureau materials and messaging in creative ways to increase public participation—for example, through newsletters, websites, and social media.
  • Invite the U.S. Census Bureau to present at your next event or host a 2020 Census informational or Q&A session.
  • Promote census hiring: Share our 2020 Census recruitment website 2020census.gov/jobs
  • Register as a location where residents can respond to the 2020 Census online, beginning in mid-March 2020.
