It’s often said that small business is big business in Montgomery County – but it’s not just a slogan, it’s a fact! More than 95% of businesses in Montgomery County have 50 or fewer employees (Source: QCEW data provided by DLLR). Here are just some of the resources that have helped create a small business Mecca here in Montgomery County.
Small Business Programs
To help ensure the engine of small business runs smoothly, Montgomery County has developed a Small Business Toolkit of services and resources to assist with the issues and challenges that might get in the way of success.

Montgomery County's resource specifically for local small businesses.
Although every effort is made to provide information in a helpful and accessible manner – sometimes a small business just needs someone to talk to for assistance.
In an effort to provide a new level of service to our small business community, the Montgomery County Council established the Business Solutions Group which included the Small Business Navigator and Business Liaison officers. The Business Solutions Group was expanded to include financial resources, becoming the Business Advancement Team.
The Small Business Navigator and Business Liaison Officers help businesses interacting with County government. Assistance might be related to rules, regulations or licensing; permitting; procurement, or simply improved communication with County departments and agencies. Services are available to businesses located in Montgomery County or considering a move to Montgomery County.
Finance specialists administer the County's grant and financial assistance programs.

Public Library Business Resources
Montgomery County Public Libraries (MCPL) offers a wealth of business resources including the Gale Business: Plan Builder and Gale Business Demographics Now. Visit the MCPL Online Resources and use your library card to access access many valuable tools to build your business.
Explore branches for business services and leverage the Online Resources for information on business and finance. Topics include everything from starting and running a for-profit or non-profit business to databases of corporate information for market research.
