Cold Weather Alert: The Office of Animal Services will be enforcing Executive Regulation 17-17 Extreme Weather/Weather Emergency when a Hypothermia Alert or Cold Emergency Alert is issued. Do not leave animals outdoors unattended. Be aware of the early signs of hypothermia in pets including shivering, muscle stiffness, lethargy, difficulty walking, cool body surfaces, and confusion. If you suspect a pet may be suffering from hypothermia move them to a warm place immediately and seek veterinary treatment. If you believe an animal is in distress call 301-279-8000.
