Funding Assitance: Community Access Program (CAP)
Supporting Local Organizations
The Community Access Program (CAP) provides funding assistance to nonprofit and community organizations, enabling them to utilize the Silver Spring Civic Building and Veterans Plaza for their programs and events. Through CAP, over 500 community groups have hosted more than 1,000 events, enriching the Montgomery County community.
-
FY25 CAP Funding is now closed because we have given out all the funding available. It was another successful year of Montgomery County supporting community groups in delivering meaningful and impactful programs to residents.
-
FY26 CAP Funding: Starting July 1, 2025, nonprofit and community organizations can apply for CAP funding to help offset facility rental costs for events scheduled between July 2025 and June 2026. Since its inception over a decade ago, CAP has supported more than 600 organizations, allowing them to allocate more resources toward impactful programs rather than facility expenses. The program's success has even been recognized by Harvard University for its positive community impact.
Who Can Apply?
Eligible organizations include youth groups, faith-based organizations, arts and cultural programs, civic groups, and more. Priority consideration is given to applicants with demonstrated financial need. A review committee evaluates applications to ensure they align with the program’s mission of community benefit.
