Division of Parking Management

Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Program

The Division of Parking Management now offers a new parking alternative for electric vehicles (EV). Sixteen (16) conveniently located EV charging stations are now available at parking facilities in downtown Bethesda, Silver Spring and Wheaton.

Charging stations are now available in Garages 11, 31, 35, 36, 40, 47 and 57 in Bethesda;
Garages 5, 7, 9, 60 and 61, Lot 29 in Silver Spring; and
Garage 45 in Wheaton.
Additional stations will be added as demand warrants.

These publicly accessible stations provide Level 2 chargers, allowing motorists to add 10 to 20 miles of range to their vehicle for every hour of charge time.

Customers are required to pay $0.13 per kilowatt hour to charge their vehicles, in addition to paying the same parking fee as other vehicles in the garage.

The charging stations are part of the ChargePoint system. Drivers can initiate a session by creating a ChargePoint Network account, through the use of a credit card, or by calling the toll-free number displayed on the station. There is a 4-hour time limit for parking in EV charging spaces and vehicles must be plugged in and charging while parked.

Montgomery County is excited to enhance its transportation options and support clean energy solutions with the deployment of these charging stations. With EV use on the rise in Montgomery County, the division is prepared to assist electric vehicles in charging up. See the Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Overview Plan for further details.
