Division of Parking Management

Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Program

The Division of Parking Management offers a parking alternative for electric vehicles (EV). Twenty (20) conveniently located EV charging stations are available at parking facilities in downtown Bethesda, Silver Spring and Wheaton.

Charging stations are available in Garages 11, 31, 35, 36, 40, 47 and 57 in Bethesda;
Garages 5, 7, 9, 60 and 61 and Lot 29 in Silver Spring; and
Garage 13 and 45 in Wheaton.

These publicly accessible stations provide Level 2 chargers, allowing motorists to add 10 to 20 miles of range to their vehicle for every hour of charge time.

Customers are required to pay $0.13 per kilowatt hour to charge their vehicles, in addition to paying the same parking fee as other vehicles in the garage.

The charging stations are part of the ChargePoint system. Drivers can initiate a session by creating a ChargePoint Network account, through the use of a credit card, or by calling the toll-free number displayed on the station. There is a 4-hour time limit for parking in EV charging spaces and vehicles are required by code to be plugged in and charging while parked.

Montgomery County's Division of Parking Management is excited to enhance its transportation options and support clean energy solutions with the deployment of charging stations. EV use is on the rise in Montgomery County as demonstrated by the over 20,000 sessions initiated at the division's charging stations in 2018. See the Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Overview Plan for further details on how the division is prepared to assist electric vehicles charge up.
