Waverly Garage (Garage 47) Rehabilitation

Beginning April 1, 2020, Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT), Division of Parking Management has temporarily closed portions portions of the Waverly Garage (Garage 47) in Bethesda to public use, to facilitate the construction of Garage 47 rehabilitation project. This project consists of replacing the entire garage concrete decks in all elevated levels of the garage, replacing plumbing and electrical/lighting systems in the garage. Up to 250 long-term spaces will be closed at a time in the portion of the garage east of Waverly Street.

The project will be constructed in phases with work phasing sequence starting from the top level of the garage and progressing to the lower levels, one phase at a time, thus enabling parking in other sections of the garage where no work will be ongoing. The 1st phase of work will be carried out on the top level 5 from about April 1st to mid-June 2020 and 85 spaces will be closed in this phase. The 2nd phase of work will be carried out in the southern half of level 4 from about mid-June to mid-September 2020 and 250 spaces will be closed in this phase. As the project progresses, updates will be provided. The project duration is two years.

Long-term parkers temporarily displaced are encouraged to use other nearby parking facilities, including the Metropolitan Garage (Garage 49), the Cheltenham Garage (Garage 42) or privately-operated facilities.
