Volunteers: Get Involved!
Montgomery County has been commemorating our community’s spirit of service since 1986, when we designated a single Community Service Day in October.
Join residents across the area for Montgomery County’s annual celebration of volunteerism—Community Service Month, which begins on October 1, 2023. You can be a part of this large movement by engaging in one or more volunteer activities during the month of October.

Choose a date-specific volunteer project from our October Calendar or sort through the hundreds of ongoing volunteer opportunities using our website search filters to find the volunteer activities that are most meaningful to you.

Group Service
The Volunteer Center is particularly encouraging groups to participate in Community Service Month. A group is defined as a team of two or more people volunteering together on the same project such as scout troops, office teams, book clubs, or your family. Find appropriate projects by selecting the Group filter as part of your search.

Volunteers: Our Community Service Fair has been canceled!
The Community Service Fair scheduled for Saturday, October 14 at 10:00 a.m. has been canceled. We appreciate your interest in participating in this event. The Volunteer Center remains committed to connecting nonprofits and volunteers. The Community Service Fair will be rescheduled at a later date. Stay Tuned!

Agencies: Post Your Opportunities!

As part of Community Service Month, the Volunteer Center invites nonprofits, schools, government agencies, and other organizations to develop and promote volunteer activities for groups in particular. To post your organization's opportunity on our site, click here! If you already have a volunteer opportunity suitable for a group of any size, be sure to click Yes to allow group registration when posting it on our website.
