Host A Service Project

Plan a project for your organization to host at the Bethesda North Marriott Conference Center or the Community and Neighborhood Recreation Center sites. Service projects will occur on Saturday, January 18, 2025, and Sunday, January 19, 2025. We encourage organizations to plan a project that will have a meaningful impact on its recipients and be enjoyable for the volunteers.

Host a Service Project at a Community Recreation Center
Saturday, January 18, 2025
Time: TBD

These sites will allow service projects from 1 - 3 organizations. Projects are small to medium-scale projects that up to 150 volunteers can complete over a 2-hour time period. We are seeking organizations that can manage service project activities at the recreation centers.

Examples of projects completed at community recreation centers include:
  • Multi-project service events
  • Dedicated craft projects like blanket making, crocheting beanies or decorating hats/bandanas
  • Food/Clothing item collection and sorting

 

Host Service Projects at Bethesda North Marriott Conference Center
Sunday, January 19, 2025
1:00 PM - 3:00 PM

The Marriott will hold service projects for up to 15 organizations. These projects should be large-scale projects that up to 1,000 volunteers can complete over a 2-hour time period.


Examples of large-scale projects completed at the Marriott Conference Center include:

  • Assembling safety or hygiene kits
  • Packing food bags
  • Writing Thank You or Holiday Cards
  • Quick crafts for a worthy cause

 

Host a Project at Your Organization (or your organization's choice of location)
Choose a date between 1/13/2025 and 1/20/2025
The project location must be in Montgomery County and engage volunteers in Montgomery County over a 2-hour time period.

Examples of projects include:

  • Multi-project service events
  • Community or Park Clean-up
  • On-site beautification projects
  • Food/Clothing item collection and sorting

 

Funds for Project Supplies
The Volunteer Center may be able to cover the cost of a portion or all of your project supplies needed to complete projects planned for MLK Day of Service 2025. We look to fund projects that address a real need and make a lasting impact in our community. Be creative and tell us about your project! Organizations may receive up to $4,000 in funding support.

 

 

Submit Your Project Proposal
If your organization is interested in hosting a service project, becoming a site host at one of our recreation centers, or participating in our volunteer fair, please complete our interest form by Friday, October 11, for priority consideration. Our team will review all submissions and respond to organizations the week of October 14 – 18, 2024. Submissions received after October 4 will be subject to consideration based on the remaining availability of funding.
