Using MCPL's Public Computers
August 25, 2015: MCPL has restored the regular Internet computer sign on procedure in all branches for customers.
As we prepare to upgrade our Pharos public computer service, we will be returning to our full Pharos public computer sign in process. To be assigned a computer, please enter your library card and pin number on the Pharos sign up workstation, or you may walk up and log in to an available public computer with your library card number and pin.
Thank you for your continued patience as we work to accomplish our goal of upgrading this system in order to provide consistent and enhanced customer service. The new system, available this fall, will provide new print management features such as color copying/printing, document scanning and printing from laptops and mobile devices.
Computers for public use are available in all MCPL libraries, except Noyes Library for Young Children. All libraries provide WiFi access. Please note that public computers in the libraries shut down ten minutes before closing.
In using library computers and WiFi, you agree to comply with Montgomery County Public Library's Computer, Internet, and Wireless Use Policies.
MCPL's public computers have Internet Explorer 8, Firefox, and these Microsoft Office 2010 programs:
- Word - for word processing
- Excel - for spreadsheets
- PowerPoint - for presentations
- Publisher - for desktop publishing
