Montgomery Village Avenue Safety Improvement Project

Improving Safety Along Montgomery Village Ave

This project will provide safety improvements to help reduce crash frequency and severity involving pedestrians, bicyclists, and other road users along a 2.4-mile segment of Montgomery Village Avenue between Wightman Road and MD 124 (Mid County Highway). This segment of roadway is identified in the Vision Zero High Injury Network, where roadway safety improvement efforts are prioritized. After conducting a Road Safety Audit and study of the corridor in 2024, we are moving forward with a project design which will include a variety of safety improvements identified by the roadway safety audit. The improvements include safety components such as new crosswalks, median extensions, pedestrian hybrid beacons, signing and marking. The project will be constructed in collaboration with the Division of Highway Services (DHS) resurfacing effort.

MCDOT will hold an In-Person Public Meeting to discuss these safety improvements! Please visit the “Project Schedule” tab of this website for meeting details.
