Martin Luther King MS, Lake Seneca ES and Waters Landing ES Walkshed Safety Evaluations
Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) completed a walkability study for Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School, Lake Seneca Elementary School and Waters Landing Elementary School in 2020 as a part of a countywide effort to identify safe and accessible routes for students walking and bicycling to school. The walkability study reviewed the condition of existing infrastructure and recommended improvements that may be implemented within the school walkshed to provide safe and accessible routes for students walking and biking to the school. A community meeting is scheduled for October 23, 2024, to present these sidewalk and safety improvements identified by the study. The community meeting will also help County staff better understand safety needs and plan future sidewalk and safety improvement projects within these schools’ walkshed.
