Celebrate Black History Month With MCPL

Black history is American history, and it's still being written. This February, Montgomery County Public Libraries invites you to join us as we celebrate the stories, achievements, and cultural impact of Black Americans.

Throughout Black History Month, our libraries will host events that inform, inspire, and spark community conversation. From author talks, art-making and film screenings to storytelling, book discussions and local history, we'll have opportunities for all ages to gather, learn, create, and reflect.

Celebrate with MCPL

Kick Off Library Lovers Month with the Opera Bears

February is Library Lovers Month, and we are kicking off our love of libraries with Friends of the Library, Montgomery County and the Maryland Opera.

"Opera Bears" is an interactive presentation featuring large puppets seen simultaneously with the performers. “Grizzelina” and “Grizzelino” teach that, for humans and bears alike, opera is a delightful way to tell a story.
