Public Meeting for Silver Spring Bike Lanes and Secure Bike Parking
01/29/2019
MCDOT Division of Transportation Engineering will host a public meeting on February 4 at the Silver Spring International Elementary School from 7PM to 9PM. The Dixon Avenue Separated Bike Lanes project will add a pair of one-way separated bike lanes to Dixon Avenue from Wayne Avenue to Ripley Street. Along Dixon Avenue, MCDOT is exploring the use of a raised curb to separate the bikeway from traffic. The project also includes the design of a secure bike parking facility in the base of Garage 5, on the southeast corner of Dixon Ave and Bonifant Street. This facility will allow secure access for people to park their bikes while visiting Silver Spring or commuting to Metro. It will be similar to existing “bike and ride” facilities at College Park and Wiehle-Reston East metro stations. Learn more at https://www.montgomerycountymd.gov/dot-dte/projects/dixonave/index.html
