Community Meeting for a Microgrid at the Montgomery County Equipment Maintenance and Transit Operations Center (EMTOC)

You are invited to attend an informational virtual meeting for a new microgrid to be constructed at the Montgomery County Department of Transportation Gaithersburg Depot located at 16700 Crabbs Branch Way, Rockville, MD.
The virtual meeting is scheduled for May 9, 2024, at 7:00 pm. The project is subject to Mandatory Referral and is comprised of a 5 MW solar canopy system to be built at the existing depot.
The purpose of this meeting is to explain the Mandatory Referral application that was filed with M-NCPPC and to then open the meeting to questions regarding the proposed project. Integrated Fleet Electrification Infrastructure Project
Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich today announced an agreement with AlphaStruxure, a leader in Energy as a Service (EaaS) solutions, to deploy an integrated microgrid and electric bus charging infrastructure project at the Brookville Bus Depot, 8710 Brookville Rd, in Silver Spring. The project will enable at least 44 buses in the Ride On Montgomery County’s transit fleet to transition from diesel to electric power. This infrastructure advances the County’s goal to reach net zero carbon emissions by 2035, reducing lifetime emissions by over 155,000 tons, while delivering resilience to climate events and power outages.
