Damascus Heritage Society Museum Disposition Public Hearing

Montgomery County, Maryland, announces that it proposes to dispose through long-term lease a portion of the grounds of County-owned property at 9701 Main Street. The property is 8.47 acres and is the site of the Damascus Library and Damascus Senior Center. The Damascus Heritage Society Museum is a prefabricated building located on the property. The County intends to dispose of the portion of the property on which the building sits through long term lease to the Damascus Heritage Society for continued use as a museum.

The Office of Planning and Development implements and manages the County’s redevelopment projects by creating opportunities for public-private partnerships that leverage County assets and facilitate Executive initiatives.

OPD advises the County Executive and elected officials on planning and land use matters related to County land and the optimal use of County resources, managing facility planning, acquisition of land for County facilities and disposition of County-owned land no longer needed for public use.
