Website Accessibility
Under the ADA, Montgomery County must ensure that its communication with people with disabilities is as effective as its communication with everybody else. The County’s Internet web sites play a vital role in providing the public with both information and services. Access for persons who have vision disabilities is provided through screen readers, which scan through web pages and read them out in an audible voice, in such a way that the correct order and labeling of parts of the page (such as paragraphs, tables, and photos) are clear. In order to ensure that web site visitors with disabilities can access and use the services provided through our Internet web sites, the County has developed technical standards for web accessibility based on industry best practices. Here is the County’s page on web accessibility.
